WALK AROUND INSPECTION

(Start from the top of the tractor)

1.           Check highway horn, always tight and working

2.           Check top lights, no missing and always working

3.           Check windshield, no cracks, no damage always tight and clean.

4.           Check wiper arms no damage, no missing, and in good condition

5.           Check wiper blades, no damage, no missing, and in good condition

6.           Check both signal indicators, no cracks, always tight, clean and working.

7.           Check headlights, no cracks, not loose, always clean, and working

8.           Check grill and nut-bolts are tight

9.           Check bumper no dents, no cracks, and no damage always tight

10.      Check license plate, not missing, always clean and tight

11.      Check sticker, not missing, always there and valid/updated

12.      Check under the tractor, no hanging and no leaks

 

THE FOUR(4) FLUID LEVELS UNDER THE HOOD

1.    Check Engine Oil with dip-stick always normal

2.    Check Coolant Level and cap secure

3.    Check Power Steering Fluid with dip-stick always normal

4.    Check Windshield Water and cap secure

 

THE FOUR(4) BELTS SYSTEM UNDER THE HOOD

1.           Truck no power steering belt, uses chain system

2.           Truck no air compressor belt, uses chain system

3.           Check alternator belt, no cracks, no cuts, no threads, no damage, always tight, play no more than ¾ inch

4.           Check water pump belt, no cracks no cuts, no threads and no damage always tight, play no more than ¾ inch

 

OTHER PARTS UNDER THE HOOD

1.           Check engine, no leaks, always clean

2.           Check water pump hoses no crack, no leaks

3.           Check air compressor hoses, no crack, no leaks

4.           Check power steering hoses, no cracks, no leaks

5.           Check tractor frame, no bend, no extra holes, no damage always straight

6.           Check steering shaft (rod), no bend, no loose, always tight, and straight

7.           Check power steering box, no leaks, no cracks, no damage, nut bolts always tight

8.           Check steering link, rod and arm, no cracks, no damage, joints are not loose, pins/bolts not missing and always tight

9.           Check air cleaner not block (other side of the tractor’s hood)

 

  

FRONT WHEEL (INFLATION-CONDITION-DEPTH)

1.    Check tire, no cuts, no cracks, no damage, no stone, no nails and no bubbles and good condition

2.    Check air inflation 90 to 95 psi with the air gauge, no tire depth less than 4/32 inch with the scale (tractor front tires)

3.    Check rim, no rust, no crack, no bend, no weld  and always clean

4.    Check lug nuts, no missing, no rust always tight

5.    Check hub oil seal, no leak, always tight and clean

 

FRONT SUSPENSION

1.    Check spring leaf no missing, no cracks, no damage always good condition

2.    Check both U-brackets and U-bolts, no missing always tight

3.    Check both side spring mounts, no cracks, not loose, no damage and nut bolts always tights

4.    Check shocks absorber, no leaks always tight

 

FRONT BRAKES

1.  Check brake hoses, no cracks, no leaks, always tight

2.  Check brake chamber, no leaks, no dents

3.  Check slack adjustor, no parts missing, always adjusted, and play less than 2 inches

4.  Check brake drum, no rust, no crack , no grease, no oil and always clean

5.  Check brake lining, no crack, no loose, always tight and not less than ¼ inch thick

 

DRIVER SIDE AREA

1.    Check mirror frame, no bend, always tight

2.    Check mirrors, no cracks, always tight and clean

3.    Check handle, not loose always tight

4.    Check door, easy open and easy close

5.    Check door mounts, always tight

6.    Check window, easy up and easy down, always clean

 

 

 FUEL AREA

1.    Check fuel tank, no leak, no damage and cap always tight

2.    Check footrest, not oily, no grease and always clean

3.    Check battery box, no cracks, no damage

4.    Check battery terminals always clean, tight and no excessive corrosion

 

UNDER VEHICLE

1.    Check drive shaft, not loose, no damage, not cracked and always straight

2.    Check tractor frame, no cracks and no bends always tight

3.    Check muffler and exhaust system, no leaks, and no holes, always tight

4.    Check air tank, no leak and no damage (drain air daily for oil and water)

5.    Check differential, no leaks, and nut-bolts tight

 

TRACTOR REAR WHEELS

1.    Check tire condition, no cuts, no damage, no nails and no bubbles

2.    Check air inflation 90 to 95 psi with the air gauge, no tire depth less than 2/32 inch with the scale

3.    Check rim, no rust, no crack, no bend, no weld  and always clean

4.    Check lug nuts, no missing, no rust always tight

5.    Check axle seals, no leaks, and nut-bolts tight

6.    Check the gap in the tires, no stone, no bottles, and always clear

7.    Check mud flaps, no damage, bolts/nut all tights

 

TRACTOR REAR SUSPENSIONS

1.    Check spring leaf no missing, no cracks, and good condition

2.    Check U-bolts, U-brackets, not missing and always tight

3.    Check spring mounts and torque rod, no cracks and nut-bolt tight

4.    Check shock absorbers no leak, no dent and good condition.

 

TRACTOR REAR BRAKES

1.    Check brake hoses, no cracks, no leaks, always tight

2.    Check brake chamber, no leaks, no dents

3.    Check slack adjustor, no parts missing, always adjusted, and play less than 2 inches

4.    Check brake drum, no rust, no crack , no grease, no oil and always clean

5.    Check brake lining, no crack, no loose and not less than ¼ inch

 

 

REAR OF TRACTOR AND FRONT OF TRAILER

1.           Check back side of tractor no damage

2.           Check tail lights, no missing, no hanging and always tight

3.           Check mud flaps or splash guards, no damage and tight

4.           Check catwalk, no grease, clean and tight

5.           Check electrical lines, connected, no damage, and good condition

6.           Check emergency line, no cuts, no crack, no damage and no leaks

7.           Check service line, no cuts, no crack, no damage and no leaks

8.           Check front side of the trailer, no damage.  Lights on the top not missing and always working

9.           Check gland hand inside rubber, no cuts, and not missing, always in good condition, no leaks and properly set

 

APRON, FIFTH WHEEL AND KINGPIN

1.    Check apron, no damage, and always straight

2.    Check fifth wheel platform, always greasy and no light between apron

3.    Check release arm, no bend and always in

4.    Check fifth wheel mounting bolts, not missing, always tight

5.    Check kingpin, no dents, no cracks, and locking jaws always locked

 

 

THE TRAILER

1.           Check trailer marking lights, no damage and working

2.           Check trailer side reflector tapes, no damage and always clean

3.           Check the landing gear, easy up, easy down, always greasy and up

4.           Check landing gear, no parts missing, landing gear frame, no damage and nut-bolt tight

5.           Check landing gear platform, no missing

6.           Check landing gear handle, not missing and always secured (other side of the trailer)

7.           Check trailer side, no damage and top light not missing

8.           Check the side lights and reflectors, not missing, no damage and clean

9.           Check trailer axle frame, no damage, no cracks, and always secured

10.      Check torque rod, no bend and always tight

 

 

TIRES (I-C-D)/RIMS/MUD FLAPS (TRAILER)

1.    Check tires, no damage, no cracks, no cuts, no nails and no stones

2.    Check air 90 to 95 psi with the air gauge. Depth not less than 2/32 inch

3.    Check the gap in the tires, no stone, no bottles, and always clear

4.    Check rim, no cracks, no welding, no rust, always clean

5.    Check lug nuts, not missing, no rust and always tight

6.    Check axle seal and oil level, no leak, always tight and clean

 

SPRINGS (TRAILER)

1.    Check spring leaf no missing, no cracks, and good condition

2.    Check U-bolts, U-brackets, not missing and always tight

3.    Check spring mounts, no cracks and nut-bolt tight

4.    Check torque rod, always straight, no cracks and good condition

 

BRAKES (TRAILER)

1.    Check brake hoses, no cuts, and no leaks, always tight

2.    Check brake chamber, no leaks, and no dents

3.    Check slack adjustor, no parts missing, always adjusting and play less than 2 inches

4.    Check brake drum, no crack no oil, no grease, no rust, and always clean

5.    Check brake lining, no crack, not loose, always tight and not less than ¼ inch

 

BACK, INSIDE AND OTHER SIDE (TRAILER)

1.    Check the lights, always working and no damage

2.    Check door easy up and easy down, always lock

3.    Check trailer floor, no damage, no holes and good conditions

4.    Check tape reflectors, not missing and always clean

5.    Check license plate, not missing, tight and the sticker is valid

6.    Check the brake and indicator lights, no damage, and good conditions

7.    Check pintle hook and nut-bolt always tight

8.    Check safety bar, not damage and always straight

9.    Check landing gear handle, not missing and always secured

10. Check splash guard/mud flaps, no damage, bolts/nut all tights

 

Notes:

  1. Always check brakes, use low gear and increase distance of the followed vehicle during down grade.
  2. Always turn the front wheels correctly during uphill/downhill parking and set the brakes.
